Komura Settai is one of the designers I admire.
He is one of the leading Japanese painters of the Taisho era.
His mastery of line, composition and use of colour is
I also refer to them in the creation of my OkoshiBumi works.

Japanese veranda 'Engawa'

Engawa is a place to talk with family and neighbours.
A place where you can sit and gaze out at the scenery, or just sit and think about nothing at all...
Engawa is a place where you can feel the warmth of a uniquely Japanese atmosphere, different from terraces and balconies.

This work was inspired by Komura Settai's masterpiece 'Aoyagi'.

Fascinated by the simplicity and fragility of paper, I have been making this work for over 20 years.
Message cards that convey both feelings and the pleasure of making them.
The thrill of opening a card is something you never forget, no matter how old you are.
We put special feelings that cannot be conveyed by email into a letter...

The world of 'Japanese' is simple, yet very delicate and profound.
Just as I was moved when I saw Komura Settai's work, I would be happy if OkoshiBumi could reach many people.
